    Community Governor (Chair)

    After graduating from Cambridge, Jane was originally a Systems Engineer with IBM. Since 2000, she has worked in the voluntary sector as a funding and governance advisor and currently is Grants Manager at Wiltshire Community Foundation. Jane has extensive experience of primary and secondary school governance – she was Governor at Kennet Valley Primary School for 10 years, including Chair for six years. Since 2006 she has been a governor at St John’s, and Chair of Governors and a Director of Excalibur Academies Trust since 2013. Jane's 3 children attended St John's.

  • Mr R Babbra

    Parent Governor

    Rav is a Chartered Engineer with a passion for Science, Engineering and Technology. He has held senior positions with multinational companies including Nokia, Vertu, and Ultra. He specialises in the management of complex technical engineering projects. Rav was awarded Chartered Manager status in 2013 for his work with the UK Ministry of Defence working as Project, Programme and Portfolio manager delivering the communication needs for the allied operations in Afghanistan. Rav held the role of the Chair of Governors at Wanborough Primary School until September 2016 and enjoys performing the role of STEM ambassador at local schools.

    Born in Great Yarmouth, with a Bsc. Hons. degree from Salford University in Business Operation and Control. I have over thirty years commercial experience working in various industries. I have recently retired from a career as a finance professional, the last sixteen years of which was working for an SME lighting company, Microlights Ltd, after the corporate life of large blue chip organisations (The BOC Group and Becton Dickinson). As Financial Director (ACMA qualified) with full board responsibilities I was involved in all areas of management, strategic decision making and direction within the fast moving lighting industry. I have a daughter in year 11 of St John’s. My interests revolve around the local hockey club (coach, player and umpire) and golf.

  • Mrs Jane Boulton

    Parent Governor

    Jane is a graduate of St Andrew’s University and is enjoying a career in the Corporate Charity Sector, with a particular focus on young people’s mental health. She has also enjoyed volunteering for various charities over the years and has been chair of 2 charities supporting disabled young people. Jane has 4 children and over 20 years experience with the Education system. Her two younger children aged 14 and 12, attend St John’s and her older children are happy in their chosen careers. Jane cares deeply about our children’s education and well-being and wants them to achieve their absolute best. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, walking her dogs, reading and music.

  • Mrs Sarah Davies

    Parent Governor

    Sarah has a degree in Textile Design and an MA in Applied Imagination in the Creative Industries from Central St. Martins, London and is currently working as a marketing manager in the energy sector. Sarah has 2 children at St Johns, one in Year 12 and one in Year 8. Previously a Governor at Ramsbury Primary School where she was Chair of the Curriculum Committee, Sarah has a particular interest in developing events that bring together the creative arts, schools, business and the community.

  • Mrs C Deadman

    Parent Governor

    Clare is a Self-employed Barrister. She has worked in the law for 30 years both in private practice and in-house for a large insurance company. She currently works for a firm of Solicitors, advising on all aspects of commercial litigation. Clare has lived in the Marlborough area for 18 years and has two children at St John’s in Years 8 and 9 with a third to follow. She has been a Primary School Governor for 5 years before becoming elected as Parent Governor at St John’s in 2014.

    Staff Governor / Principal

    Originally from Hereford, Nicky graduated from the University of London with a degree in English and began her teaching career in Gloucester. With over 25 years’ teaching experience, Nicky has had a number of different roles in comprehensive schools including two Headships prior to taking up her role as Principal at St John’s.

    Jonathan is former Head Boy at St. John's. He has a Masters degree in environmental science and over twenty years of international industrial experience. As a highly experienced environmental auditor he brings strong due diligence skills to his role as a parent governor.

  • Mr N A Hobson

    Community Governor

    Neville has served as a Governor for over 10 years, joining St John’s soon after his two children. Both his children have now completed their time at St Johns, moved on through University to career paths of their own. During his time as a Governor he has seen the achievement of the development and transition to the single site we have today, and to an Ofsted rating of Outstanding. His professional background is in electronics and computing. He works as a consultant for a US based software company advising and developing the design process for the electronics in everything from a mobile phone to the wiring in a car.

  • Revd Miri Keen

    Community Governor

    Miri is the Team Vicar in Marlborough. Before training for Christian ministry she was a primary school teacher with experience of Y5 & Y6 and the Early Years. She thoroughly enjoys continuing to be part of a school community and has been a school governor for over ten years. As well as being a member of the Local Governing Body at St John’s she is a Foundation Governor at Preshute CofE Primary School. Miri moved to the Marlborough area in 2014, having lived in West Oxfordshire where her children attended one of Mrs Edmondson’s previous schools.

    Community Governor

    Elaine was born and educated in Scotland and England and also lived and attended school in Liberia, West Africa and Zambia. She has lived in Marlborough for over 20 years and both of her sons attended St John's. Elaine has worked at Zurich for 34 years in various roles, including financial product developments, Marketing and Communications and is currently the UK Fund Raising Manager for Zurich Community Trust. Elaine was the Swindon and North Wiltshire Chair for the NSPCC having been involved in the NSPCC for over 30 years.

    Julie is part of the Excalibur Clerking Service and currently clerks for 3 local governing bodies and the Admissions Panel of the Trust. She has been a clerk for 5 years and previously was a parent governor at a local primary school taking on the roles of Vice-Chair and Chair of the Premises and Finance Committee.

    Born and bred in North Yorkshire, Miles began his teaching career in York after a Business Hospitality Management degree. After living and cheffing in Australia, he returned home and set up and ran his own outside catering company in Cardiff. Miles has had a range of roles in state schools both north and south and his three children all attend St Johns.

    Mr Rogan has responsibility for the systems we use to monitor, analyse and report the progress of all students. He also oversees all public and mock examinations. Mr Rogan also teaches Maths.

    Assistant Vice Principal, Behaviour & Inclusion and Active

    Charlie has been a secondary school teacher for 22 years, St John’s being his fourth school. During this time, he has been a successful Head of PE within a Sports College, Head of Year and has undertaken various other pastoral roles. In his current role he overseas Inclusion, the pastoral system at KS3 and the Active Pathway, working with Heads of Year, Key Workers and the Hub manager.

    Director of Logistics, Geography

    Originally from Australia, Martin has worked in a variety of roles in his time at St John’s, including Head of Geography, then Head of Earth Science. His senior management role is as our Logistics Director, managing the teams that look after the site and all its facilities. With a Nebosh National General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety, Martin also oversees H&S both at St John’s and all partner schools in the Academy Trust. Martin is also Educational Visits Co-ordinator. His interests include vegetable gardening, cricket and country sports.

    Assistant Vice Principal, Behaviour & Rewards, PE & Sport

    After gaining a BA(Hons) in Sport Science Tom then qualified as a PE teacher at Exeter University and enjoyed many years in this role, progressing to being the Director of Physical Education at St John’s. Further development followed through an MA in Educational Management and completion of the NPQH and a number of different roles have been fulfilled. Tom has recently moved to the pastoral system working directly with the College Principals and Key Workers, overseeing all areas of Student Welfare within the College system.

    Director of Sixth Form College, Humanities, Classics

    This role includes overseeing all aspects of the 6th form at St John's, including the pastoral and academic support of the students. The management of the 6th form team is an important part of this and involves working closely with a team of 20 tutors and the careers adviser. All students are given guidance on post 18 options and supported through the UCAS progress and alternatives to HE. The enrichment programme is another vital aspect of the Sixth Form at St John's and students are given the opportunity to follow a range of different opportunities and interests, including taking the Extended Project Qualification at Level 3.

    Sarah has over 20 years teaching experience and 13 years’ experience as SENCo in both primary and secondary schools and is currently SENCo for St John’s, Marlborough. In 2014, she planned and led the first Excalibur Academies Trust SpLD Awareness Day, collaborating with local dyslexia and specific learning difficulty specialists. Sarah has been judged as an outstanding practitioner in both primary and secondary inspections and has her NPQH.

    Assistant Vice Principal - Director Excalibur Teaching School Alliance

    Sarah has over 20 years teaching experience in Swindon and Wiltshire schools as both a Maths and ICT Teacher. She has led in many areas of the secondary Maths and ICT curriculum and her roles have ranged from Director of ICT to Pupil Premium Co-ordinator and Maths Subject Lead Tutor for a SCITT. Sarah has also worked as a teacher on the Children’s Ward at the Great Western Hospital. As a Senior Leader, Sarah holds the position of Director of Excalibur Teaching School Alliance; she is responsible for leading and developing the strategy for the Teaching School, offering provision across the Alliance in Initial Teacher Training, School to School Support and Continued Professional Development.

    Excalibur HR Director

    Kim joined St John’s in 2010 and is the HR Director for Excalibur Academies Trust. She completed the DSBM in 2013 and began her career 30 years ago. She worked in Financial Services as the Executive Assistant to the Chairman of a large insurance company. In her EAT role she is responsible for ‘people based’ activity within Excalibur Academies Trust on an operational and strategic perspective. She is involved in many areas such as resource planning and recruitment, training, managing a variety of employee related issues at any one time and being the first point of contact for all employee related issues. She also has responsibility for senior level decision making on both day to day management and the strategic direction of HR across the Trust.
